F.A.Q

WEBRADIOSTATS PRO (online)

- What kind of data do you need from me in order to activate the service?
We need the name your web radio, and you need to host the 2 PHP files we will send you, on your web site.
- Are there any technical specifications for the two files I need to host on my website?
The web server hosting the two files needs to be PHP-enabled (PHP 4 at least). Moreover, the PHP scripts require that a connection can be made to your shoutcast server on the port where your web radio is broadcasting. This means you may need to adjust your web server firewall (or ask your hosting provider to do so) in order to allow outgoing connections on the port number your web radio is broadcasting.
- My web server does not support PHP. What can I do?
We have available versions of the client files in various web technologies, and are willing to create versions compatible with other platforms as well. Please contact us to resolve the issue.
- On my server, there is a firewall and there is no way I can get my hosting provider to open up any ports. What can I do?
You can host these two files in ANY web server, irrespective of where your web site is hosted e.g. on a friend or colleague website.
- How can I know I have filled in the correct information in the configuration file, as well as if there is an issue with firewall?
After you have filled in your information in the configuration file, and have uploaded the two files, point to the url of the client script (e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/shoutcast_client.php). You should be seeing an XML file with the data of your web radio. If you see a white page (or an error), you either have wrong data (IP, Port, Password) or there is a firewall issue.
- Do you need my stream password?
NO! You will fill out the password in one of the two files we will send you, along with the rest of your stream data and kept secret on the server where they are hosted. We will NEVER ask you to disclose IP address, port and shoutcast server password to us. Moreover, we CANNOT collect this information in any way, and to prove this, we have kept the two client files open source, so that you can make sure we never access this information.
- If I change stream providers, do I have to communicate with you to change something?
NO! You do not need to contact us. Simply update the configuration file with the new information and everything should work without any issues.
- Will I lose any statistics if I change Streaming Provider?
NO! Our service is independent of your streaming provider. You may change streaming providers as often as you wish. As long as you update the configuration file, you will not lose any statistics. We have designed our service so that you never feel bound by the statistics offered by any streaming hosting company.
- If I change the location of the PHP files, do I need to notify you?
YES! The only time you will need to notify us when you change something is when you change the location of the PHP files. Otherwise, we will be unable to collect your listener data.
- Is the collection of data done by using shoutcast’s log file ?
NO! Data collection is done real time and it is stored in a database we create specifically for you.
- Are all the listeners appearing?
This is your choice. Our suggestion is not to show listeners of listening time less than 3 minutes. In any case everybody is being recorded. We have the option of simply putting a listening time filter.
- I use windows media server. Can I use your services?
Unfortunately not right now. Our services apply to owners / users of shoutcast server. In the future we may consider to creating something similar to that for windows media servers, depending on the demand for it.
- I have registered my radio to your service and all the tables (24 hours, 7 days, etc.) show the same data. What gives?
This is expected. For the first 24 hours of the service, all tables show the same data. On the second day you will see all tables will show the same data except for the table of 24 hours. The time statistics will show the actual rates for the time they are referring, meaning the 24 hours panel will show records up to 24 hours ago, the 7 days panel up to 7 days ago, etc.
- When using the custom filter, the listeners in a specific week appear somewhat fewer than when adding up the listeners on each individual day within that week. Is this some error?
Not really. This is simply how listeners are calculated. Any listener that was listening to your station before, at and after midnight, will be counted once on both days, but only once within the week. So it may appear as there are "ghost" listeners in individual days, however this is just how the statistics work.
- Can you provide statistics for particular days, months (e.g. Monday, Tuesday / November, December)?
Of course, using our custom filters! You can even drill down to a specific broadcast (up to a period of 3 hours) anytime within the past 12 months.
- I use one server and 3 relays. Will I see all listeners from all streams on my stats page?
Each relay/stream is practically a "new radio station" in terms of required resources (traffic and database space) .The Stats of these streams are merged in one single statistics page.
